About Us

The mission of the Los Angeles Community Colleges District (LACCD) Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA) is to be a visible and viable agency dedicated to supporting employment equity and professional excellence, leadership, and development of African-American faculty and staff of the District by:

  • Advocating for fair hiring, promotion, and retention practices;
  • Encouraging professional excellence and growth through mentorship and networking opportunities;
  • Creating, cultivating and maintaining a sense of community and a safe space to speak; and
  • Enhancing morale, self-esteem, and cultural identity by recognizing and celebrating accomplishments, contributions, and milestones through culturally-inspired celebrations and activities

The Executive Board meets monthly via CCC Confer on the second Thursdays of the month at 12:00 pm.  The General Body meets quarterly on the fourth Thursdays of the month at 2:00 p.m.  For dates and locations of local chapter meetings, visit their websites or Facebook page where agendas and minutes will also be posted.

The LACCD BFSA supports the following organizations:  African-American Male Education Network and Development (A2MEND), African-American Outreach Initiative (AAOI), Black Student Union (BSU), NAACP Scholarships, Southern California Black Faculty & Staff Association, Umoja, and United Negro College Fund.
